Thrice-crowned Most Valuable Player Jokic suffers a 'devastating' knee injury.

The star center in action
The Denver Nuggets star secured the NBA's Most Valuable Player title in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

Triple National Basketball Association MVP Jokic sustained a "heartbreaking" injury to his knee while the Denver Nuggets fell by a score of 147-123 to the Miami Heat.

The Serbian center sustained the injury in the latter stages of the opening half following an unintentional coming together with teammate Jones.

Jones came down on the foot of the MVP, and he instantly collapsed to the court holding his knee.

The veteran player, that leads the league season in rebounds and assists, recorded 21 points and eight dimes in the matchup before sustaining the setback.

Jokic will have an scan on the following day to determine the extent of the issue.

"Instantly, Jokic understood there was a problem," stated Nuggets head coach David Adelman.

"This is part of the NBA. Anyone that is injured, it's gut-wrenching, most notably somebody as special as Jokic. We'll find out more on Tuesday."

"We will continue as a team. Of course, right now, I'm more worried just about him as a person and the frustration of facing something of that nature."
