The New Pathfinder Board Game Rewards Strategic Thinking in Shared Experiences
Paizo has broadened its product line with a new cooperative board game, developed to welcome both dedicated fans and newcomers to the universe of Pathfinder's setting.
Combining RPG Mechanics
Players will explore tile-based layouts, battle creatures, and tackle over numerous decision-based situations ranging from opening chests or approaching creatures.
"We tried to find common ground where all types of players will find something to appreciate," shared a key designer.
Streamlined Dice System
Gone is the classic d20, players now roll special six-sided dice with icons indicating hits, class features, and opponent moves.
- Star symbols activate specialized skills
- Skull symbols let foes to activate their signature actions
- Character traits can modify outcomes by ignoring unwanted results or granting beneficial ones
Dynamic Campaign
Every decision matters, recorded on a campaign sheet that shapes later missions. Participants can replay earlier decisions thanks to a chronological element featuring a chronal wyrm.
Beginner-Friendly
While using the RPG's character types, backgrounds, and lore, the game is built for players having no prior tabletop background.
Characters level up post each adventure, gaining new abilities and items during the journey.
Release Plans
This adventure includes base roles—scout, priest, warrior, and mage—with extra variants offered as crowdfunding rewards.
An upgraded release contains figurines and exclusive content, while the standard set uses cardboard pawns.
Crowdfunding will influence the complete size of the project, with potential follow-ups being planned.
Expected release is targeting spring 2026.
