Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
