Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it was natural for doubts to be raised about his future after another heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in twelve games, representing the club's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got plenty of support from above,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and get a victory obviously but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I sense the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted familiar failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a period like this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to the top, prove once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
